  1. The tank lid is designed for walking traffic ONLY.

  2. The Neck ring must NOT finish any lower than 500mm below ground level

  • You need to make sure that the water tank is sitting flat and true before fill it with water. To achieve this you should dig an extra 100 - 150mm. This would be enough to lay a concrete base.

    Around the tank you should allow 150mm gap for back filling later.

    At this stage dig out your trenches for your pipe work and inline filters.

Installing the Water Tank

  • Once the concrete has dried, lower the tank in to the hole. If your have been supplied a neck ring this should be cut to length to finish flush with the ground.
    • If you find the neck ring loose, apply some silicon seal.
  • To stop the water tank from rising up out of the ground when the water table rises, we recommend you backfill 450-460mm deep around the tank with concrete.
    • If you live in a high water table area, then you should use more concrete. If you are unsure, contact your local builder.
  • Once the concrete has set, backfill the remaining space with pea shingle and surround materials.

Aftercare

Most underground water tanks don't need any aftercare straightway. If the water is undisturbed for a period of time, it may become stagnant and start to smell. Over many years of use the water tank may require cleaning, which can be done by using a mop.
Filter Box Installation

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. The filter box lid is designed for walking traffic ONLY.

  2. The filter box MUST go between the down pipe and the tank.
                     The filter box can be installed anywhere along the inlet pipe between the tank and the down pipe.  Ensure you can gain access to the filter for cleaning. Run your pipe work making sure the inlet from the filter has a sight drop to ensure water flow.

NOTE: A good fall would be 25mm every 1m.

Ensure the inlet pipe from the down pipe, is fitted to the 4” connector on the filter box with the 90° elbow on it.

  1. Back fill the surrounding area of the filter box with surrounding resources (Pea shingle preferable). Also see 1a

1a. Ground conditions are not the same in every area should your water table rise; your tank may rise as well.  If you have a high water table then it is recommended that you back fill more than the first strengthening ring or 450mm.
